Open Canned Food Tabs Without the Strain

Say goodbye to sore fingers, broken nails, and joint pain. The Tab Buddy XL is a simple but powerful tool designed to make opening canned food tabs effortless — perfect for fruit, soups, veggies, pet food, and more. It even works on drink cans.

Why You’ll Love It

  • Assistive help where it’s needed most: Supports people with arthritis, hand weakness, tremors, or disabilities by giving leverage and control.
  • Protects nails and fingertips: No more broken or chipped nails from prying tabs.
  • Smooth, safe opening: Wraps fully around the can tab for a secure grip, then uses a built-in hook to peel lids back with ease.
  • Always within reach: A hidden magnet keeps it on your fridge. Plus, a built-in keyring hole makes it portable with optional keychains or wrist straps.
  • Cute + functional: Available in colorful designs that bring personality to your kitchen.

Details and Care

  • Size: 3 1/4 in long × 1 1/4 in wide × 1/4 in thick
  • Material: Eco-friendly, biodegradable plastic
  • Care: Hand wash only with warm soapy water, air dry fully, store indoors to prevent fading
  • Storage: Internal magnet; keep away from children and electronics

Who It’s For

  • People with arthritis or conditions that impact hand mobility such as carpal tunnel, EDS, Reynaud’s, lupus, fibromyalgia, neuropathy, MD, CF, MS, Parkinson’s, and many others
  • Anyone with long nails who wants to avoid chips and breaks
  • Older individuals with reduced hand strength or dexterity who want to restore independence in everyday tasks
  • Food service workers, volunteers, and pet owners who open lots of cans daily
  • Children ages 3+ (with adult supervision) who haven’t yet developed the strength and fine motor control to open cans on their own
  • Families looking for a thoughtful, accessible gift that empowers autonomy

About This Design

The Disability Pride Flag was created to raise awareness, and has become a symbol of solidarity, acceptance and pride. Disability Pride Month is celebrated in the United States in July, the anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

According to Columbia University, the original design was created by writer Ann Magill, who has cerebral palsy. The design was refined as a collaborative effort to better represent the community.

Each color stripe has a meaning:

  • Red - physical disabilities
  • Gold - neurodiversity
  • White - invisible disabilities and disabilities that haven't yet been diagnosed
  • Blue - emotional and psychiatric disabilities, including mental illness, anxiety, and depression
  • Green - for sensory disabilities, including deafness, blindness, lack of smell, lack of taste, audio processing disorder, and all other sensory disabilities

The faded black background represents mourning and rage for victims of ableist violence and abuse. The diagonal band cuts across the walls and barriers that separate the disabled from society, also representing light and creativity cutting through the darkness.

Safety Note

The Tab Buddy XL contains a small internal magnet. Not for children under 3 years old. For children ages 3 and up, use only under adult supervision. If magnets are swallowed, seek immediate medical attention.
